The popular CBS television show Blue Blood is scheduled to air an episode depicting the Chassidic Jewish community.
The CBS team crew were at Krausz Hatters on twelfth and 50th in Borough Park on Tuesday, January 08 and on Wednesday in Williamsburg on Wythe and South1st by the park.
The story line may go something like this:
A Chassidic Rabbi is murdered in the heart of the New York Chassidic community. Police look into the victims disloyalty to his wife and suspect that the affair may have to do with his murder. Detective Danny Reagan visits a local hat story to follow up on a lead. He wants the owner to tell him if anyone bought a Shtreimel with a unique type of fur.
The owner discovers that he sold a Shtreimel with that type of fur to to the victim himself. The Police are distraught. The Shtreimel fur was found on dead man’s body and was their major lead.
A member of the Satmar Chasidic community told thejfile.com that there is a slight concern that “the show will not accurately reflect the Jewish community”.
“Deborah Feldman was seen at the filming locations. She lied about our community in the past. The fact she is involved in worrisome”
“There are enough objective people CBS could have hired. The fact that she was used as any type of consultant is a slap in the face to the orthodox community” he said.
